York Woodcraft Folk
Do you enjoy:
Playing? -- Camping? -- Making Things? -- Singing? -- Eating? -- Walking? -- Digging and planting? -- Climbing and canoeing? -- Saving the world? (Yes, we said saving the world.)
So do we!
York Woodies meet weekly to do all these things and more (but not always at the same time...), and we would love you to come and join us. We believe in friendship, so we're always very happy to make new friends.
We also believe in co-operation, peace, a sustainable world, and helping others.
Our Groups
We have three groups in York at the moment:
WOODCHIPS: for children up to 6 years old, and their parents. This new group will be up and running by the summer, and will meet at weekends on our allotment at Scarcroft. There will be a meeting on SUNDAY 17TH MAY 2009 2.30-3.30 for interested parents to come along and meet the group leaders and find out more. This will be at the allotment, which will be signposted on the day. For more info email woodchips@yorkwoodies.org.uk, or call Jo on 01904 622989, Liz on 01904 625990, or Julia on 01904 415541. Or download the flyer, and give it to your friends too!
ELFINS: 7-9 years old. We meet weekly on term-time Fridays from 6.00-7.30. Meetings are split between indoors and outdoors, depending on the time of year and the weather. To find out more email info@yorkwoodies.org.uk, or call or text Jonny on 07914 862872.
PIONEERS (10-12 years) and VENTURERS (13-15 years): We meet weekly on term-time Thursdays from 6.00-7.30. Meetings are also split between indoors and outdoors, with occasional more adventurous outings too. To find out more, email info@yorkwoodies.org.uk, or call or text Willy on 07974 867301.
At the end of term, or on special occasions, we all meet together and have a barbecue or party! We also camp together.
Members pay a small subscription of £1 per week, plus a £4 termly fee per family.
Who Exactly Are The Woodcraft Folk?
The Woodcraft Folk is a national environmental and educational movement established in 1925. Groups of children from young to old around the country meet regularly to play, talk, walk, make things, garden, camp...
